Meeting you where you are
Chad Douglas Johnson, LMFT
I am a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT) in the state of Tennessee, who specializes in working with adult and adolescent males, and couples of all types at Nashville Therapy Group. I currently see clients both in person in the Nashville area community, and online for anyone across the state. Prior, I worked with youth, adults, and couples at both Daystar Counseling and the Lipscomb Family Therapy Center, in Nashville.
My path to becoming a therapist has been a long and winding one, but one I feel has uniquely prepared me to engage in the work I most love. Before becoming a therapist, my career spanned 20+ years across nonprofit, government, higher education, corporate, and the creative arts. While I have always had a heart for helping others, I came to realize I wanted to be in a deeper relationship with people. That desire led me to the hardest and best professional decision of my life—to change directions and pursue a rigorous clinical program with a family and a full-time job in tow. My family is very patient and supportive of my dreams, and for that I am grateful.
I am excited every day to sit with my clients and experience their unique stories, as together we pursue positive change and growth for their lives.
How does that happen? It starts from a strong belief that there is no one-size-fits-all blueprint to therapy. My approach is collaboratively tailored to fit you. You will find me to be an approachable, accepting, and non-judgmental person who prioritizes you. We will work together on your goals. We may discuss hard things, but we will balance that with laughter. We will go at your pace, but I will challenge you when needed. Most of all, you will feel heard, understood, and respected in our time together.
Personally, I’m a Nashville area native (a rarity these days) who has lived here most of my life, except for a two year adventure in Washington, DC. I am a husband of 20 years, and a proud father of two boys, ages 14 and 10.
